Tasting Notes and Characteristics:

Louis Roederer Collection 243 opens with a vibrant, lively palate that makes it perfect for celebrations or intimate gatherings alike. Its fine bubbles and creamy texture create an elegant mouthfeel, while the 12.5% ABV ensures a balanced experience without overwhelming the senses. Crafted in France’s Champagne region, this wine is produced using a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier grapes, reflecting both tradition and innovation in its meticulous vinification process.

On the nose and palate, Collection 243 reveals layers of crisp green apple, ripe pear, citrus zest, and subtle toasted brioche. These flavors are complemented by delicate mineral notes that enhance its freshness. When paired with oysters, the Champagne’s bright acidity cuts through brininess beautifully; with Brie cheese, its creamy mousse harmonizes with the cheese’s richness while refreshing your palate between bites. This makes Louis Roederer Collection 243 an excellent choice for elevating classic appetizers or seafood platters.

Producer Information: Louis Roederer

Louis Roederer is a historic Champagne house based in Reims, within the heart of France’s Champagne region. Founded in 1776 and taking its current name in 1833 when Louis Roederer inherited and expanded the business, the house has remained family-owned for generations. Their production approach centers on meticulous vineyard management, with over two-thirds of their grape supply coming from estate-owned vineyards. This allows them to control quality from vine to bottle, emphasizing sustainable viticulture and careful selection of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier grapes.

Beyond their flagship Brut Premier and prestigious Cristal cuvée, Louis Roederer’s portfolio includes a range of vintage Champagnes such as Blanc de Blancs and Rosé expressions. The company also owns several other wine estates across France: Château de Pez in Saint-Estèphe for Bordeaux reds; Domaine Ott in Provence for rosé wines; Delas Frères in the Rhône Valley for Syrah-based reds; Ramos Pinto in Portugal specializing in Port wines; and Deutz Champagne. These holdings allow Louis Roederer to offer an array of terroir-driven wines beyond sparkling wine, appealing to collectors interested in diverse varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Touriga Nacional, and more.
