Tasting Notes and Characteristics:

The first sip of Cakebread Cellars Pinot Noir feels like slipping into a velvet armchair by a crackling fire, its aromas of ripe cherry and wild strawberry mingling with subtle notes of forest floor and baking spice. Crafted in the United States, this expressive red wine showcases the delicate balance and supple texture that make Pinot Noir so captivating. With an alcohol by volume of 14.10%, it delivers both elegance and depth, unfurling layers of juicy red fruit, earthy undertones, and a whisper of toasted oak on the finish. Pour a glass alongside duck or mushroom risotto to let its vibrant acidity and silky tannins elevate every bite—this is California Pinot at its most inviting.

Producer Information: Cakebread Cellars

Founded in 1973 by Jack and Dolores Cakebread in Rutherford, Napa Valley, Cakebread Cellars has built its legacy on a commitment to sustainable viticulture and meticulous small-lot winemaking. The family-owned winery is deeply rooted in the heart of California’s premier wine region, where gravelly soils and cool morning fogs shape the character of their estate-grown grapes. Their philosophy centers on expressing the unique terroir of each vineyard site through careful hand-harvesting and gentle fermentation techniques. While their Cabernet Sauvignon captures much of the valley’s power, Cakebread also crafts elegant Chardonnay from Carneros and vibrant Sauvignon Blanc that highlights Napa’s diverse microclimates. Their portfolio extends to Merlot, Pinot Noir from Anderson Valley, and a crisp Rosé, each reflecting a thoughtful approach to varietal expression without venturing into spirits or non-wine beverages.
