Producer Information: Beringer Vineyards

Beringer Vineyards, established in 1876 in Napa Valley’s St. Helena, stands as California’s oldest continuously operating winery, founded by German immigrants Jacob and Frederick Beringer who recognized the region’s gravelly soils and microclimates as ideal for European grape varietals. Their approach blends Old World winemaking traditions with innovative techniques such as hand-dug caves for barrel aging, a practice that continues to influence their signature Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. Beyond these flagship wines, Beringer crafts a diverse portfolio including Merlot from Knights Valley and Private Reserve selections that highlight single-vineyard expressions unique to Napa’s sub-appellations. The estate also produces limited-edition dessert wines like Nightingale and offers educational tasting experiences rooted in its historic Rhine House, reinforcing its deep connection to both place and category leadership within American viticulture.
